-Appearance:

--Form: SEMI SOLID AT 20^oC (like a soft cream) melts very smoothly with human body temperature.

--Color: light yellows off white

--Smell: Characteristic mild smell

--Melting Point: 25 to 30^oC

--Boiling Point: ……N/A……

--Flash Point: >200^oC

--Ignition Temperature: N/A

--Auto ignition temperature: N/A

--Explosive Properties: Not explosive

--Density: 0.91

- Materials to avoid: Strong oxidizing agents. E.g. storages in mild steel vessels, moisture contents etc.

- The product is considered non-toxic and of edible quality, when freshly extracted.  It is traditionally used as cooking oil and also as skin care for babies and women in Uganda East Africa for centuries.

- Persistency and degradability: Readily biodegradable

-According to the chemical composition: no contents are classified as dangerous for the environment.

 

8. FIRST AID AND MEASURES:

- Ingestion:  Not considered dangerous

- Skin contact: Non –Irritating.  Wash with soap and water

- Inhalation: No vapors appear at normal working temperature

- Eye contact: Flush with clean water for 10 to 15 minutes. If irritation continues seek doctor’s advice.

 

9.  FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES:

Extinguishing Media:

Suitable: Dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable fire extinguisher: Do not use Water Jet, but use water to cool fire exposed containers.

 

10. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES:

- PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS: Watch out for slippery conditions if spilled.  Avoid direct contact with eyes.

- ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS: Keep away from drains and ground water

-METHODS OF CLEANING UP: Pick up excess with inert absorbent material and put it into a separate waste container. Flush area with warm soapy water.

 

11. HANDLING AND STORAGES:

- Handling: handle with care and avoid spillage on the floor

- Measures for safety handling: Consider normal working hygiene conditions. Keep away from source of ignition and direct heat or fire.

-Storage: Store in cool dry place, keep container always closed after use. Keep away from direct sun light and heat.

- Suitable packing materials: Dark plastic drums or coated steel drums or dark glass

- Not suitable packing materials: No direct contact with mild steel, iron, bronze or copper.

- SPECIAL HANDLING IN PRODUCTION PROCESS: Never use direct fire for melting/ heating. Always use water bath or melt it under medium of jacketed steam  or in  hot water jacket.
